Die overtuigden tijdgenoten ervan dat hij de Zoon van God was. Sommige wonderen speelden zich in kleine kring en achter de schermen af, maar andere waren openbaar en spectaculair: Jezus die over het water liep, Lazarus uit de dood opwekte, met enkele broden en vissen duizenden mensen te eten gaf.. Ook de genezingen (van blinden, lammen, doven en bezetenen) maakten diepe indruk. Die wonderen waren een belangrijk onderdeel van Jezus’ werk, en vormden een dynamische tegenhanger van zijn onderwijzingen. In De wonderen van Jezus worden de ooggetuigenverslagen opnieuw verteld. Bovendien verduidelijkt het boek de historische context en betekenis van de wonderen. Bij iedere episode wordt ten slotte uitgelegd wat het belang ervan is voor vandaag. De illustraties bieden een onmisbare ondersteuning bij de uitleg.
