The intention of this book is to present documentary material from the Cappadocian town of Sinasos and to locate it within the larger context of the region, which is very well known for its rich cultural past.

The volcanic valley region of Cappadocia in which Sinasos (Mustafapasaköy) is situated, is of considerable importance to art history due to unique construction and paintings of the early Christian and Byzantine ecclesiastical cave monuments.
